Mark Brayne

Foreign correspondent and Psychotherapist

Mark Brayne is a psychotherapist and an accredited Consultant in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) since 2002 as well former foreign correspondent working at the BBC. Currently he works as a psychotherapist in traumaanxiety, depression and relationships. After being diagnosed with asperges this year it has now given him more drive when it comes to canvasing for support for journalists who suffer with trauma.

Previously Brayne has worked at Reuters reporting from East Berlin and Moscow during the 70’s. He then made the move to the BBC in the late 70s and stayed until for 30 years reporting  from Berlin,  Vienna, Beijing, Russia and London and also worked as editor for Europe overall as well as launching a BBC project for journalism and trauma.

 

 He trained as a psychotherapist during the 90s and gained a Master of arts in transpersonal counselling and Psychotherapy at CCPE (centre for counselling and psychotherapy) . During this  time, he became the director for the Dart centre for journalism and trauma for Europe and stayed here for around 5 year. Brayne then served as a member on several boards such as the European society for traumatic stress studies and the board of EMDR.

 

Brayne afterwards was a training facilitator with Parnell institute specialising in EMDR and he now has his own consultancy for EMDR and psychotherapy for trauma which has currently moved online due to COVID-19. His work has been published in a variety of well-known publications over the years including.
